Reminders:
- Monday, January 11 - School starts back face to face on
- Monday, January 18 – No School in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday
- Friday, January 15 – We will visit the media center. Please send in books to return next week so that your child can check out new books!
Classroom Happenings:
- Math 1.2 – We will continue focusing on telling time to the hour and half hour
- Math 2.2 – We will review place value and adding and subtracting 2-3 digit numbers. We will end the week working on 2-3 digit addition with regrouping.
- Phonics – Our phonics pattern this week is long and short u words. Please see the spelling list attached. We will take a spelling test on Friday.
- Reading – We will continue to learn about fables and identifying the central message (moral). This week we will read Country Mouse and City Mouse, The Fox and the Grapes, The Lion and the Mouse, and The Ants and the Grasshopper.
- Grammar/Writing – Our grammar skill this week is using commas in a series. We will be starting a new unit on opinion writing (always a fun one for the kids).
- Social Studies – We will continue to learn about Theodore Roosevelt and how he made life better for people in our country.
