I hope you have all had a nice week. Thanks again for your flexibility as we all adjust to the unexpected! We have some important updates and reminders for next week. Please let me know if you have any questions about them.
Reminders:
- Wednesday, February 3rd is the 100th Day of school! We’ll celebrate being 100 days smarter with some fun activities. Students are encouraged to dress up as a 100 year old person! I will be dressing up also. I can’t wait to see your creativity!!
- Valentine’s Day Celebration – We will celebrate Valentine’s Day at school on Thursday, February 11th. If your child would like to participate, please make sure you send in a Valentine card for each person in our class. We have 20 students. I will provide bags for the students to collect the cards/candy. I ask they you do not label them with any names, but have your student sign who they are from. I will distribute each student’s Valentine’s cards to limit the amount of contact. Please send the cards/candy in on or before Tuesday, February 9th.
- Friday, February 12th and Monday, February 15th – No School for students in honor of President’s Day
Classroom Happenings:
- Math 1.2 – We will be reviewing time to the hour, half hour, and measuring using standard and non-standard means.
- Math 2.2 – We will review strategies to help us add 2 and 3 digit numbers with regrouping.
- Phonics – Our phonics pattern next week will be words with ai/ay. Please see the spelling list attached.
- Reading – The reading skill next week is identifying point of view (who is telling the story). We will be reading The True Story of the Three Little Pigs.
- Grammar – Our grammar focus will be using determiners (a, an, the, etc…) correctly in our writing.
