Reminders:
- If your child plans to participate in the Valentine’s Day card exchange on Thursday, February 11th, please send the cards in by Monday. Also, please be sure to include a card for every student in our class (20 total). Do not address the cards to specific students, but students should sign their names. Thanks in advance!
- Thursday, February 11th - Students are invited to wear red, pink, or hearts for Valentine’s Day!
- Friday, February 12th – No School (teacher work day)
- Monday, February 15th – No School (President’s Day)
Classroom Happenings:
- 1.2 Math – We will review time to the hour and half hour, and use different types of graphs to answer questions such as how many more than (subtracting) and how many all together (adding).
- 2.2 Math – We will practice adding 10 and 100 to a number. We will also introduce and practice the communitive property (fact families) and associative property (rearranging the parenthesis does not change the answer) ex: (5 + 3) + 1 = the same as 5 + (3 + 1) =
- Phonics -Our spelling pattern this week is long o words using oa and oe words. The spelling list is attached.
- Reading – We will continue learning all about point of view (who is telling the story and how do we know?). The read aloud this week is Hey, Little Ant.
- Writing – We will continue opinion writing with 3 reasons to support our opinion.
- Grammar – Our grammar skill this week is sorting words into categories.
- Social Studies -We will continue learning all about Ruby Bridges and how she made life better for people in our country.
