Happy Friday!
Thank you all for another amazing week of URL. I am so appreciative of everyone’s hard work and dedication.
IReady Diagnostic – dates have changed!!
Our class will be taking the i-Ready Diagnostic during our math block on September 1st and September 2nd and our reading block on September 3rd and September 4th. Please do not have them work on this outside our allotted class time, as this will result in your child having to begin the Diagnostic again (which could be very frustrating). Please see the iReady attachment for more information.
Graded Assignments
Beginning next week, we will begin taking grades on assignments. Throughout the year, students will receive grades for both formative and summative assessments. The grades for the formative assessments will not count towards their actual grade, it is simply a way for you to keep track of how your child is doing. We will give summative assessments to assess a child’s understanding of a particular standard and these grades will be counted.
Next week, we will be grading the following assignments:
Math:
Formative: Graphing assignment in Seesaw on Monday
ELA:
Summative: Chrysanthemum Retelling assignment in Seesaw on Monday
It is vital that your child complete these particular assignments independently. I will explain the directions prior to sending them to complete the assignment. While you may help them with the directions, we ask that you allow your child to complete the work on their own. I am not looking for perfection, but it is extremely important that I am able to see what your child is capable of doing on their own. Please be aware that I am still collecting valuable data from the other assignments, even if I do not take a formal grade.
Return to School Plan - VERY IMPORTANT

Issue with Microsoft Teams
Some of you have been having trouble joining teams for class meetings. I have heard that you are able to see that there is a meeting happening, but the “join” button isn’t there. If this happens, please know that it is a Teams issue. The best way to try and solve that problem is to “quit” the Teams app or exit out of the webpage and try to log back in. This may take a few minutes and you may need to follow the steps above more than once. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused!
Brainpop Jr.
Next week we will be utilizing Brainpop Jr. Assignments. I have showed everyone how to access these assignments, but in case they forget, here’s a helpful video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQMUVLN3LjA&feature=youtu.be.
Spelling Words for this week:
Pig, fin, lid, bib, sit, fin, bin, big, hit, fig, fit
Challenge Words: fish, wish, skin, twin, slim
Optional Bingo Boards-September
See boards attached. Please have students refrain from doing the I-Ready assessment until the end of next week when they have completed the diagnostic.
Have a great weekend!!
